God and gods

As you might suspect, I am relating one Blythe's and my topics on the veranda.  This part of our day has become most rewarding as we feel free to discuss any topic we want.  Blythe is the one who brought this topic up.  She began by saying:  "I know many people who will not discuss religion nor politics.  It seems they are saying neither party has the ability to remain friendly when disagreements come."   I added that maybe they are so defunct in knowledge that they are afraid their ignorance will show. " I think there are so many variations in thoughts and it is such a muddle that people throw up their hands and say God cannot be proven and the Bible insists on only one way to heaven, that this becomes offensive as it denies the freedom to believe what you are comfortible in believing. " I said.   "Take the teaching on Hell, for example.....To accept this as a bitter truth makes one feel afraid, and people don't like to  accept as truth something they are horribly afraid of.  This is why there are so called atheists......the thought of God is so un-comfortible to them they solve the problem by saying there is no God at all.  What they can't understand, they throw it in the bin of non-exhistant.  Using their method of reasoning, I do not think there are any television sets..I don't understand how they work.  Blythe then said:   "We never discussed our political nor Religious beliefs before we got married.  It just wasn't important to me at the time."  I said that love understands and accepts differences.....Blythe said:  My Parents took me to Sunday School and Church every Sunday.  I loved my Sunday School Teacher...Sarah Henry...and old maid school teacher.  Bless her  heart, she was as homely as a mud fence, but loved us kids.  One night at a party she threw for us, I went outside and walked to the street.  I saw her old car start to roll down the street.  It was a mild grade and she forgot to set the brake.  It just started to roll away from the curb and I ran and pulled the handle that my Father always pulled when he parked,  The car stopped and I ran in to tell Miss Henry.  I have wondered about that....did God cause me to go out there at exactly the right time?  I told her I was sure of it.  "I never could understand the Trinity...it sounded like there were three Gods to me"  she said.  I told her there were three distinct manifestations of one person...like throwing a cake of ice into a vat of boiling water...you see steam, water, and solid ice all at the same time.  The same essence  H2O, but seen in three forms.  Jesus is referred to as the "Son of God"  and many think he was a creation of God, but not God.  He had and has a distinct office in the Triune God Head.  He said "I and the Father are One, he who has seen me hath seen the Father.....like the cake of ice might say  "He who hath seen me hath seen H2O."  Blythe asked me directly:  "Do you believe the Bible is The Word of God?  It claims to be, but it was written by humans."  I said "It was written by at least 40 humans who lived on three different continents and over a span of 1500 years.  When the last writer laid down his pen, all 66 books were compiled and it is called the Canon of Scripture.  Each book is a complete story and yet, only a part of the whole story.  It is a magnificent demonsration of the harmony of  God who guided their pens....it is not a collection of personal ideas, but a collection of God inspired revelation and record of what happened, what is happening now, and what is going to happen.  The World could not assemble 40 liars to  write a book of such continuity.  Yes, I know the Bible is the Word of God.  You used the term "religion"....Religion is to God what Botany is to flowers...You can go to class and learn every thing about flowers...the stamen, the pistol,, all of that, but unless you have walked through a Rose Garden  on a Spring morning, you don't know flowers at all"........(to be continued)
