OUR INTERVIEW WITH CLIFF DARBY
With the information we had, it was no trouble to find Cliff Darby..living in Davis, California and working for the University of California at Davis. He was the director of their Fluid Properties Lab. Blythe and I had a long discussion about how to approach Cliff as he was obviously a gold mine of information. We agreed that we had to find some way to observe him and assess his personality in order to determine what approach we should use for him to trust us and become "Oh, so sympathetic"...Blythe decided to contact the Dean of Engineering and explain that she was a writer for the Sacramento Bee and would like to do story on the Fluid Properties Lab. She turned on her female and convincing tonal qualites. Lady Luck was on our side as Dean Frizzelle said he had read her column many times and especially enjoyed the one on..."How to Find Serenity"...He wanted to know when we could come and tour the facility and meet its director, Cliff Darby She asked when it would be most conducive for a visit and he asked if we could be there by ten tomorrow morning. We agreed and then went home for the best part of the day....the veranda and wine time
