WHAT I FOUND OUT
As was my practice, I arrived early at crossing post and it was Wednesday. It had begun as a bright, Sunny day, but the marine layer (high fog) was pushing in from the coast, and in the space of five minutes, we were covered in grey. The students began to arrive and I looked closely for a candidate to question. I decided up choosing a female as they were more talkitive! I picked one and asked her if she knew a J.B. She said yes as she was in her class. I asked her if J. had been in class the last several days and she said yes. I thanked her and finished off my shift. Now, I just had to find out how she was getting to school. I never saw her leave her home as it was in plain view of my post. While I was there, I decided to walk over to Keppel and walk around the school. First, I went into office and introduced myself and asked if I would walk around as my grandson used to go there and I wanted to see what it looked like. "What was his name" the lady asked. I decided to tell her the truth as I could see no danger in doing that, so I said "Bob Fishback". She said it was alright to walk around and to report back to her when I left. The halls were empty as the kids were already in class. I wanted to peek in my old Kindergarten class.. Mrs.Plate in the morning and Mrs.Diven taught the afternoon session. I could not remember which one I had. I walked around abit and then left. I was puzzled about how J got to school. She had to have left the house, but I never saw her. That means she had to go out the back. It came to me her best friend, Mary J. lived right behind her and there was a gate between their properties. I never saw them walking together, yet, they were at school. The only answer was they went in a car. But why and how? I will get to the bottom of this. (to be continued)
